Get involved in TASL

The Texas Association of School Librarians is looking for volunteers! They currently have vacancies on the following committees, which have a term of one (1) year:

  • MVP (Media/Virtual Presence) Award Committee - This award is given to a school librarian who shows excellence through their virtual presence. The committee reviews nominations and determines a winner for the award.
  • Resolutions Committee - This group only works if there is something that TASL would like the TLA Council to take action on.
  • Shirley Igo PTA/School Library Collaboration Award - recognizes a collaboration between a school PTA and the campus library program. The committee reviews applications and determines a winner.
  • Laura Edwards Award - This award is a $400 stipend to attend TLA Annual Conference that is given to a librarian involved in youth service. The committee reviews applications and determines a winner.

All of these committees do their work via online communication. A face to face meeting is rarely required.

If you're interested in serving, contact Julie Briggs, TASL Chair (juliemichellebriggs at gmail dot com) or complete the TASL Volunteer Form.
