Summer staff development opportunities

The Region 10 Library Co-Op is offering some great sessions for librarians this summer. MISD is a member of this cooperative so I hope that you will come in from the pool sometime during the summer and take advantage of these learning opportunities.

These are the sessions that I would recommend for MISD librarians based on initiatives we have going on or knowledge I have of the presenter:

June 13, 1:00-4:00: Maximizing Student Potential Through BYOT in the Library, Alicia Vandenbroek

July 24, 9:00-12:00: Flipped Library Basics, Nancy Jo Lambert

July 24, 1:00-4:00: Web Tools for Library Lessons, Nancy Jo Lambert

August 11, 9:00-4:00: The Unpretentious Librarian Reveals Secondary Library Programming Secrets, Sue Fitzgerald

These presenters are all practicing librarians in the DFW area who have fantastic programs and wonderful ideas.

Stop the summer slide!

Click the link below for information from Jen Robinson's Book Page about the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge for kids K-8.

Created to give schools and families a free and engaging way to encourage more children to read during the summer and prevent "summer slide"  - the learning losses that set children back academically when they do not read during the out-of-school summer months.
