Adobe ID

In accordance with COPPA law, Adobe is no longer allowing students under 13 to create an Adobe ID.  This means that students under 13 will not be able to download an ebook to a device.  However, they can still use the Read In Browser feature.  Audiobooks do not require an Adobe login, so these books are also available to them.  Please make your teachers (especially 6th grade) are aware of this as I'm sure they will be wanting to get the students reading as soon as possible on the iPad.  You might also recommend Tumblebooks.  Many graphic novels and chapter books were added.  It's not just picture books.   Advantages to the Read in Browser feature are:

  • easier to use; no downloading required
  • students can continue to read on a computer or device at home too (they wouldn't be able to do this once it's downloaded unless they had the device at home)
