Texas TEEN Book Festival 2016 - October 1, 2016

This sounds like an amazing event!

The Texas Book Festival, in a partnership with BookPeople and venue sponsor St. Edward’s University, is pleased to present the Texas Teen Book Festival 2016, a FREE one-day event that celebrates the teen reading experience by inviting teens to visit with many of the most popular and critically acclaimed young adult authors. This year's festival will feature 34 authors with an expected attendance of more than 4,000 teens, parents, teachers, and librarians from across the state.

We are thrilled to host so many amazing authors for 2016!

This year we welcome
  • Mindy Kaling from “The Mindy Project” and Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns),
  • Leigh Bardugo (The Grisha Trilogy and Six of Crows)
  • Laini Taylor (Daughter of Smoke & Bone series and Strange the Dreamer)

 as our keynote speakers.

For our annual Texas Throwdown Game Showwe will witness authors Sabaa Tahir, Rene S. Perez II, David Arnold, Caleb Roehrig, E.K. Johnston, & Jeffery Self compete in an epic battle of
BC vs. AD in which they will determine if they truly belong in our 21st century or if they really need to go back in time.

We’re excited to be bringing in some significant new partnerships this year, including a new workshop with, a special event with Alamo Drafthouse, and our first ever Fierce Reads Costume Contest!

For the first time ever, #TTBF is partnering with Austin’s own Alamo Drafthouse Cinema,
and on the evening of Friday, September 30the Texas Teen Book Festival, Alamo South Lamar, and Penguin Teen will host a very special screening of The Outsiders, the 1983 film adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s YA classic. Penguin authors Sabaa Tahir, David Arnold, and Renée Ahdieh will join the exclusive event for a Q&A with Sarah Pitre from Drafthouse and Forever YA and chat about The Outsiders, a seminal work of the YA genre, and its special spot in their hearts as writers for a young adult audience.

By purchasing a ticket for the film screening, you are automatically entered for a chance to win a spot at our TTBF Author Social, where you can meet, talk, rub elbows with some of the TTBF 2016 authors, and get answers to those questions you’ve been dying to ask! For more details and a link to purchase tickets, visit our website.

This program is made possible in part by a grant from Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
